PPAR Community Relations
The goal of the Community Relations Committee is to provide creative, innovative, challenging and sacrificial opportunities for ALL PPAR members to serve each of the communities in the Pikes Peak Region. A major part of PPAR's culture is awareness of the civic responsibility we have to give back to the communities we serve. Every PPAR member is invited to participate in any of our projects or events.
The committee meets the first Wednesday of each month and all PPAR Members are encouraged to attend and to bring new ideas and service opportunities to the table. A list of our major activites is below. For more information, contact Anne Marie Smith at PPAR.
The Resource Exchange
PPAR has proudly partnered with TRE to offer a fabulous poster “Doors of Colorado Springs”. It is a gorgeous piece of art work that makes awesome closing gifts that look great in any home or office. All proceeds go to TRE and far more importantly, to the amazing kids and adults with intellectual and development disabilities TRE so proudly serves. You can get yours at PPAR for $20 unframed or $50 framed. Stop by PPAR and pick your print today.
Every November, Kids Crossing provides PPAR with names, ages and wish lists of children in our communities who will not receive a Christmas gift without our help. PPAR members may adopt a child and spend $40 to provide items from the child’s wish list. Presents are collected at PPAR and handed out to the children and their families at Christmas. To find out how you can help, please contact Anne Marie Smith. More details available on PPAR.org by late November annually.
PPAR helps to raise funds for Junior Achievement. Teams of five complete in a two-part tournament! The first goal is to see who can raise the most funds for the kids. The second goal is to be the champion scorers! Watch for details about this bowling tournament every February!Read More
For many years, at both Thanksgiving and Christmas, PPAR members have provided the funding to serve food baskets to the Women of Grace – a Church program geared to keeping families out of the welfare system. All funds and goods that are contributed goes to those in need. The committee works together with Albertson’s Grocery Store to provide the food and products needed for the baskets. YOUR volunteer time is needed to help committee members put the baskets together and then deliver them to the church for the families to pick up.
Festival Of Lights
PPAR is entering the parade for the second year. Last year, Committee members worked many hours to plan, design, construct and make the float happen. Over 40 members walked behind the float in 2015 to wave at the crowd and show support for this worthwhile event. PPAR was honored to have won the best float in the 2015 parade and is aiming to capture their second win in 2016!
