The Volunteer REALTOR® Program

The membership of the Pikes Peak Association of REALTORS® (PPAR) is very proud of our nation’s military heritage. Through the years PPAR has supported our military community in multiple directions and industry service partnerships. The foremost of these partnerships is the PPAR and Fort Carson sponsored VRP Program. VRP has established a Colorado Springs housing and information office within the Housing Referral Office at Fort Carson, Bldg. 1225 Felkins Street. Our VRP REALTORS® have been providing area housing information, for purchase and leasing, and consumer guidance since July 25, 1994. Thousands of inbound military families have benefited from this program. The VRP office is staffed with a certified PPAR/VRP REALTOR® and offers internet access to the PPMLS. Office hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. and is available to all area military personnel.


Participation Requirements


  1. Minimum 24 months of residential sales in the local Pikes Peak market
  2. Knowledgeable in all types of mortgages
  3. Competent in all PPMLS Applications
  4. Thorough understanding of Fair Housing Law
  5. Familiar with RESPA, TIL, GFE Guidelines and Disclosures
  6. Exhibit professional appearance and presence
  7. Experience with Buyer Agency and Transaction Brokerage
  8. Knowledge of the Pikes Peak Region
  9. Demonstrate REALTOR® patience and perseverance
  10. Familiar with VA/FHA and Underwriting Guidelines
  11. Willingness to invest time in helping others
  12. Member in good standing with PPAR, CAR and NAR
  13. Have good communication skills and habits
  14. Possess ethical business practices
  15. Be service oriented in all real estate matters
  16. Familiar with all area school districts
  17. Up-to-date with NAR Ethics Course
  18. Adopt a ‘can do’ attitude
  19. Experience in rental and leasing services
  20. Meet all VRP shift assignments and protocols
  21. Practice REALTOR® business courtesies at all times
  22. Have an understanding and presence in social media
