Education - Real Estate Designations

  1. ABR – Accredited Buyer Representative With over 20,000 members, REBAC is the largest association of real estate professionals focusing on all aspects of buyer representation. Over 11,000 ABR® designees have completed the REBAC course, passed the test and provided documentation of buyer agency experience. The two-day, 16-hour course and one seven to eight hour elective course is required for gaining the designation. ABR “core course” and elective course is offered at PPAR in the spring.

  2. CCIM – Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute CCIMs are recognized experts in commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, asset management valuation and investment analysis. The CCIM business network includes more than 5,000 designees and 5,000 candidates principally in North America. Real Estate users and investors look to the expertise of a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) for direction in all aspects of the commercial property transaction. A CCIM education will enhance your credibility with clients, streamline your learning, and accelerate your earning potential.

  3. CDPE – Certified Distressed Property Expert (certification) With a growing nationwide network of more than 7,000 real estate professionals, the Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) certification is changing the way industry veterans deal with the changing paradigm of success in the real estate industry. Through comprehensive training and experience, CDPE’s have an understanding of the complex issues with distressed properties.

  4. CIPS – Certified International Property Specialist Individuals who prove their expertise in international real estate practices by completing program requirements. CIPS designees are from countries around the world. The CIPS Network is comprised of real estate professionals who deal in all types of real estate with focus specifically on the “international” market.

  5. CPM – Certified Property Management Acquire valuable real estate management skills through educational offerings leading to the CPM® designation. CPM® members have the competitive edge in every area of real estate management from residential to commercial to industrial.   6. CRB – Certified Residential Broker With more than 7,000 brokerage owners and managers nationwide enjoying the benefits of membership, the Real Estate Brokerage Managers Council is recognized throughout the industry as the professional peer organization for real estate’s leaders. Real estate brokerage owners and managers will be ready to meet their personal and professional challenges when they earn the CRB designation. This advanced designation is designed to cultivate business-managing skills in the residential broker.

  7. CRP – Certified Relocation Professional Formally recognizes those who have mastered extensive knowledge on the principles and practices of relocation. Designations are valid for a three-year period after passing the exam. Visit www.erc.org for complete certification requirements.

  9. e-PRO – Internet Certification e-PRO is the only technology and Internet certification program of its kind that is recognized nationally and offered by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. e-PRO is an online training program offering complete instruction on how to communicate effectively with the online consumer and get the most out of one’s online real estate business. Comprehensive and rewarding, the certification raises the bar for all REALTORS® in Internet and technical expertise.

  10. GRI – 15 – 4 hour classes (60 hours) required. The GRI designation is a powerful tool to attract and build new business. Earning this designation will help you to increase your skill level across the entire landscape of real estate with in-depth training in legal and regulatory issues, technology, professional standards and the sales process. Earning the Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation is a way to stand out to prospective home buyers and sellers as a REALTOR® who has gained in-depth market knowledge, increased proficiency in a broad array of subjects to enhance professionalism and business success. The median income for GRI designees in 2012 was $61,000.00, compared to the median income of non-designees of $33,500. GRI is an entry-level residential designation and will be most beneficial to real estate professionals who have less than 5 years experience, however, the course content is a great refresher for even the seasoned real estate agent.

  11. LTG – Leadership Training Graduate Career Leaders Aren’t Born – They’re Designated. The LTG designation focuses on career improvement and individual goal attainment. The designation provides recognition to professionals who excel in career leadership through the dynamic combination of education and experience. MRP – Military Relocation Professional NAR’s certification focuses on educating real estate professionals about working with current and former military service members to find the housing solutions that best suit their needs-as sellers or buyers-and take full advantage of military benefits and support. Students will learn how to provide the real estate services-at any stages in the service member’s military career – that meet the needs of this niche market and win future referrals.

  13. SFR – Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource Certification For many real estate professionals, short sales and foreclosures are the new “traditional” real estate transaction. Knowing how to help sellers maneuver the complexities of short sales as well as helping buyers pursue these opportunities are critical skills in today’s market. Designed for real estate professionals at all experience levels.
